V Kotcích Street is today an incomprehensibly forgotten street in the very center of Prague. Half a minute’s walk from Wenceslas Square and a minute’s walk from Old Town Square and the alley looks like in some forgotten part of the city.

Its name originates from the fact that in the mid-14th century there was a famous market here where goods were sold in shops called “kotce” (hutches).

Interestingly, between 1739 and 1783 there was a Theatre in V Kotcích Street, the first theatre to perform not in a wooden building but a brick house.
