If you are standing in Kampa and looking towards the National Theatre, a row of 34 yellow penguins will probably catch your attention. And it doesn’t matter if it’s day or night, summer or winter…

In Czech, the penguin is called “tučňák” and this name probably comes from the word “tučný” (fat). This non-flying cute bird, which waddles when walking, is also called a “tailcoat bird”. However, few people know that the penguin is one of the smartest animals. There is also known a story of a penguin from Japan who took a backpack every morning and went to buy a fish for his human family.

Yellow penguins have been standing at Kampa since 2008 when Cracking Art Group installed them there. They are waiting for you to come and see them.
